With more than 33 years in the car business, I fully appreciate what you go through trying to assemble the right staff. But no matter how much effort you expend, it seems that just when it's all together..you know, the right team of managers and the right number of the right people on the right number of crews..something happens, and it all turns to poop. Believe me, I feel your pain! And you ask yourself, why should I invest in training now with a less than perfect staff? Wouldn't it be better to wait until I shore up the teams before I spend the money? There's an old saying "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with". Zig Ziglar says that the only thing more expensive than training the staff you already have is to keep them and not train them.

   A couple of further thoughts: There is no power in positive thinking - only in positive action. And, any action that you do take either hits the target or brings you one step closer. The only sure way to fail is to do nothing!

   I have found that most salespeople really want to learn how to do it right but are never exposed to professional training. Sales Managers, with all good intentions, are always too busy closing deals, cooling heat, hanging paper, or chasing salespeople to prepare and execute regular, well thought out training. In addition, a great manager may not be a great trainer. And so, most new hires simply pick up the experienced guys best bad habits on the showroom floor - and that's how they learn the business. You Can Do Better Than That!
